Your child will also begin to ask you questions. This exchange is very casual but also very important. As your child develops, they will be able to ask more complex questions. This will help them develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Directing Throughout your experiences as a parent, you will be directing your child how to do everything from washing their face to helping them with their math homework. Much of parenting is guiding children through childhood so that they can become independent adults. This can be the biggest challenge you will face in your life for several reasons. The first is the responsibility you will have in terms of providing for your children. The second is the support and nurturing you will have to constantly provide. The third is that you will run out of patience a lot. Telling a child to clean their room over and over again throughout the day will drive anyone crazy. But children need the direction. Adding on a child’s responsibility at home as they age will depend on the responsibilities you have, if your child can handle responsibility, and the amount of time during the day to complete tasks. Every household is different. Some parents work, while others stay home. But directing your children and showing them how to do things for themselves is important. Take the time to show your child how to brush their teeth and how to pick out their own clothes. These are little tasks that you can add to as they age. Shadowing Shadowing will occur once your child is walking on their own. Everywhere you go, your child will follow. This is very natural and part of their growing process. Children need to follow their parents in order to learn how to survive in the world. Even though turning the television on is very tempting sometimes, you should allow your children to hang around you as you go about your day. You may find that children who are at day care during the day will want to shadow you at night time.
